Tesla Cybertruck Frequently Asked Questions

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most anticipated electric vehicles. The Cybertruck caught everyone’s attention when it was unveiled at the Tesla Design Studio in November 2019. During the unveiling, the supposedly unbreakable armor glass windows were notoriously shattered when a metal ball was thrown to test the strength of the glass. While we can’t vouch that Tesla has improved upon this design flaw, they have had a few years to fix the issue. The Cybertruck was set to be released in 2022 but has since been postponed to begin production in 2023. Here’s what we know about the Tesla Cybertruck so far.

What kind of motor does the Tesla Cybertruck offer?

The Tesla Cybertruck will be built with an Internal Permanent Magnet-Synchronous Reluctance Motor. This is a similar motor to the one used in the popular Tesla Model 3 sedan.

When is the Tesla Cybertruck expected to be released?

The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to be released in four different models. Each of these models will be released individually and the specifications and price point differ significantly. A Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) is expected to be released in Late 2024. A Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is expected to be released in Late 2023. A Tri Motor AWD is expected to also be released in 2023. Tesla also has plans for a Quad Motor AWD truck but no release date has been specified.

What is the maximum range for the Tesla Cybertruck?

The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to have a maximum range of up to 500 miles. This maximum range is only for the Tri-Motor AWD model, although the Quad Motor AWD may exceed this 500 miles maximum range. The Dual Motor AWD will get up to 300 miles of range per charge and the Single Motor RWD will get up to 250 miles per charge.

How fast does the Tesla Cybertruck battery charge?

While Tesla has not officially announced the Cybertruck’s charging specifications, we can look to other Tesla models to get a rough estimate of time to full battery charge. The current lineup of Tesla vehicles come with various chargers all offering different voltage levels. Level 1 chargers use 120 volts, Level 2 chargers use 240 volts and Level 3 chargers use high-power 480 volt circuits. The Level 3 charger, known as the Tesla Supercharger, is the best option if you need to re-charge your vehicle quickly. The Tesla Supercharger recharges current models in 30-40 minutes from a fully depleted battery. We would expect this speed in the Tesla Cybertruck as well.

How much horsepower and torque does the Tesla Cybertruck offer?

The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to put out up to 800 maximum horsepower and deliver 1,000 lb-ft of torque. This maximum power output is only available on the Tri-Motor AWD model. The Single-Motor RWD model is expected to reach up to 500 max horsepower. The Dual-Motor AWD model lands between the two at 690 max horsepower.

How fast can the Tesla Cybertruck go from 0-60MPH?

The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to travel from 0-60MPH in less than 2.9 seconds. Again, this is only for the Tri-Motor AWD model. The Single-Motor RWD and Dual-Motor AWD models will reach 60MPH in 6.5 and 4.5 seconds, respectively.

How much can the Tesla Cybertruck tow?

The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to tow up to 14,000 pounds, when properly equipped. To reach this maximum towing capacity, your Cybertruck would need to be equipped with the Tri-Motor AWD. The Dual Motor AWD model is expected to tow up to 10,000 pounds and the Single Motor RWD model is expected to tow up to 7,500 pounds.

What is the maximum payload capacity on the Tesla Cybertruck?

The Maximum Payload Capacity on the Tesla Cybertruck will be 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. The maximum payload figures are the same across all models.

What is the suspension available on the Tesla Cybertruck?

The Tesla Cybertruck will be equipped with anAdaptive Air Suspension system. The suspension will be capable of raising or lowering up to 4 four inches for easier access to the cab and bed.

What colors are available on the Tesla Cybertruck?

The Tesla Cybertruck will notoriously only be available in the stainless-steel “colorless” option. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has said the Cybertruck can come in any color “as long as it’s nothing.” It sounds like drivers who are looking to add color to their Cybertruck would need an after-market wrap added to their vehicle.

What technology packages are available on the Tesla Cybertruck?

The only known technology on the interior of the Cybertruck is the classic 17” center touchscreen display.

How many passengers can the Tesla Cybertruck seat?

The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to seat up to 6 passengers with its first and second row bench seating. The rear middle seat is expected to fold down for added storage space.

What type of warranty comes with the Tesla Cybertruck?

The warranty on the Cybertruck won’t be released until closer to the vehicle’s official release. Tesla offers one of the industry’s best warranties on its vehicles covering them for 8 years and up to 150,000 miles.

What is the price of the Tesla Cybertruck?

The price of the Cybertruck will vary depending on the model. The Tesla Cybertruck will have a starting price of $39,900 for the base model. We break down the pricing for each model below.

  • Tesla Cybertruck Single Motor RWD – $39,900
